Aleppo, Syria− On Thursday, 15 pro-regime soldiers were killed during continuous clashes between the Syrian regime forces and opposition fighters in the Marjah district in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo.

Ismail Aziz, a lawyer based in the city of Aleppo, told ARA News that around 15 regime soldiers were killed in the fierce clashes which broke out between fighters of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and the regime forces in Aleppo, while several others were injured.

“Fighters of the Free Syrian Army targeted the regime’s headquarters with mortar shells in the old districts of Aleppo, while the regime incurred losses in weapons and machinery during the clashes which took place in the Marjah district,” Aziz said.

Meanwhile, the clashes continued between the Islamic Front −a rebel group backed by the FSA− and the al-Qaeda-linked Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in the western and southern parts of the Manbij city, in the countryside of Aleppo.

Abu Ahmed, a member of the opposition-led Local Council in the city of Manbij, told ARA News that thousands of the city’s residents escaped the growing violence and resorted to the city of Kobane and to other relatively safe areas on the outskirts of the city.

“Mortar shells fired by the ISIL hit several districts in the city and resulted in more than 25 casualties among civilians, who were then transferred to the National Hospital of Manbij,” Abu Ahmad said.
