Damascus, Syria– Forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad targeted on Friday the town of Hatitat al-Jarish in the eastern Ghouta of Damascus countryside with a surface-to-surface missile, activists reported. At least 5 civilians were killed and several others were reportedly injured.

Ahmed Sabbagh, a local activist based in Damascus city, told ARA News that the surface-to-surface missile fired by the regime forces fell on a residential building in Hatitat al-Jarsh town.

“Among the casualties were a child and her parents,” Sabbagh said. “Several other civilians were injured and transferred to a field hospital in the town.”

This coincided with clashes between regime forces and fighters of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) as the regime forces were reportedly trying to storm into the town of al-Maliha in Damascus suburb. The regime warplanes carried out a missile air strike on the town, local sources said.

Meanwhile, 8 mortar shells of unknown sources fell on Jarmana city in the countryside of Damascus near the Main Street which resulted in the injury of 6 civilians who were taken to al-Raddi hospital in Jaramana.
