Urfa, Gaziantep, Turkey– At least four civilians were reported dead and more than 10 injured as a result of bombardment by pro-regime air force on Thursday on Menbij city and its countryside in Aleppo province, north Syria.
According to local sources, among the casualties were two women and a child.
Hadi Mahmoud, a media activist based in Aleppo, told ARA News that the regime air force targeted the Barid Street and al-Dala Square in the city center of Minbej city, beside the village of al-Assadiya in the countryside of the city.
“Among the casualties was a pregnant woman frm the town of Madina in Aleppo countryside, who recently received shelter in Mibej,” Mahmoud said.
Speaking to ARA News, Yusuf Horan, president of the Syrian Institute for Justice which “observes and documents cases of violations against human rights in Syria”, said: “Our institute received photos of the bombardment on Minbej city by the regime air force which dropped boxes of bombs on populated areas in the city.”
“Several suffocation cases were reported,” Horan said.
Horan pointed out that they (members of the Syrian Institute for Justice) haven’’t been able to identify the bomb yet.
“We were encountered for the first time with such a bomb and it wasn’t a toxic or a cluster bomb. Therefore, we sent the photos to specialized experts and are waiting for the results,” Horan said.
