Daraa, Syria– At least 15 fighters from the pro-Assad military forces were killed on Wednesday afternoon amid clashes with opposition fighters of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in the town of Nawa in Daraa province, south of Syria. On the other hand, one FSA fighter was killed and three others were injured, local sources confirmed.

The clashes coincided with an aerial bombardment on the town by the regime air force.

“The pro-regime helicopters bombarded Nawa town and caused massive destruction to property, without recording casualties,” said Mohammad al-Hassan, activist based in Daraa city.

The pro-Assad military forces were trying on Wednesday morning to advance in Daraa countryside and regain control over FSA-held areas, which caused the cashes and bombardment.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Miskin town in Daraa countryside was exposed to artillery shelling by the pro-Assad forces (stationed in Military Division 92), resulting in casualties among civilians. ARA News could not verify the exact number of casualties.

This comes two days after the FSA fighters bombed a regime-held building in the vicinity of Air Inttelligence branch in Daraa suburb.  Dozens of regime forces based in the bombed building were reportedly killed.
