Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan− After three months of control over the city of Manbej in Aleppo province, al-Qaeda splinter group of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) tries to impose its will by force and arms on all means of life in the city, as well as putting pressure on its residents, cutting off heads and hands under the banner of applying the Islamic law, according to activists.
Omar Jamshid, a media activist in Manbej, told ARA News that the ISIL recently imposed many special laws such as the veil and preventing smoking in the city. “These laws and actions bring resentment among the majority of the city residents,” he said.
“During the last few months, the ISIL group arrested a number of employees in the city under the pretext of having suspected ties with the Assad regime,” Jamshid said. “Militants of ISIL gathered the majority of doctors and engineers in the Cultural Center of the city (Manbej) lecturing them about the rules and regulations they should abide to while performing their work (as doctors and engineers) in accordance with the ISIL vision.”
“According to local sources in Manbej city, ISIL group accused last week 4 citizens of robbery and punished them in front of a large crowd of civilians in the city, including children. said Jamshid. The accused have been subjected to hands-cutting law of ISIL legislation.
Meanwhile, the ISIL reportedly executed three young people in Maskana area in the province of Aleppo, north of Syria, on Friday. ISIL members crucified the victims in the public square in front of people on charges of fighting in the ranks of the regime forces.
The group of ISIL also imposed similar laws (claimed to be part of Islamic Sharia) on the residents of Tel Hamis in Hasakah province, northeast of Syria, since Thursday.
The strict regulations imposed by ISIL members raised the outrage of civilians in the Syrian areas under the group’s control. According to activists, the situation in the ISIL-held cities and towns forced thousands of families to leave their houses and resort to areas out of the group’s control, while those who insist to stay are silent due to fear.
