Qamishli, Syria– Under the patronage of the Fraternity Center “Biratî” for Democracy and Civil Society, the Future Child Protection organization launched last week a project named Childhood Friends’ Center, under the slogan “We Also Love Life”. The campaign, which lasted four days in the city of Qamishli, targeted twenty handicapped children through entertaining activities and lectures directed to their parents on psychological guidance.
Anas Hassan, the project manager, told ARA News “We provided our support through specific programme, where we integrated the handicapped children with the children of the Childhood Friends’ Center through entertaining activities on the first two days. While on the third day, the psychological specialist of the center gave a lecture entitled ‘the psychological guidance for the handicapped children’s parents’. On the fourth day, we held an entertaining ceremony where we exhibited the children’s works. We also displayed documentaries and broached some important provisions of the Child’s Covenant and the Handicapped Convention. At the end, we presented some souvenirs.”
Hasan added, “The Independent Organization for Children’s Rights Protection is carrying out the same project in Hasakah city.”
According to Hasan, The Childhood Friends’ Center is one of the eight initiatives launched by the Fraternity Center “Biratî” in Hasakah governorate, especially in the cities of Hasakah, Qamishli and Sere Kaniye/Ras al-Ain.
“The project’s beneficiaries are the violentized and crisis-affected children between 6-12 years old. It aims to improve the psychological status of the targeted group via 40-day programme, including art and music classes, drama activities, animations and picnics. Well-trained ladies and a psychological specialist are available to oversee these activities,” the manager of the project, Anas Hasan, concluded.
