Urfa, Turkey – Badruddin al-Jassem, school teacher in the city of Raqqa, was found dead on Saturday evening near al-Hazeema junction north of the city. Thouse who found al-Jassem’s dead body told ARA News that the victim’s throat was cut off and signs of torture were visible on his body.
Speaking to ARA News, a member of al-Jassem’s family said that the “crime was not committed for sake of theft”, adding that the victim’s personal belongings “including a sum of money” were left behind by the executers.
“The killing was not due to theft, the victim had an amount of money and a mobile phone, while his car was left at the scene of the crime without any signs of theft,” al-Jassem’s relative said. “The murderer wrote the name of the victim on the dead body’s chest, as the place of gunshot in his head was apparent.”
The victim’s relative accused the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) –which is in control over Raqqa– of executing the crime.
According to observers, the crime rate in the province of Raqqa has increased recently, and most of the cases are motivated by unknown reasons.
