Qamishli, Syria – The Islamic State (IS), an al-Qaeda offshoot, executed a Kurdish young man in the town of Tel Brak in Hasakah countryside, in northeastern Syria.

Abdul Aziz Hussein, 26, was captured by militants of the Islamic State on Sunday. Hussein was stopped at an IS-held security checkpoint while heading to his house in the village of al-Wardiya (located on the road between al-Hasakah city and Tel Birak).

According to the victim’s family, Hussein was beheaded by IS extremists “for no clear reason”.

“Hussein used to carry a licensed pistol for self defence, as the security situation is clearly deteriorating across the province,” Hussein’s brother told ARA News. “When they (IS militants) found that gun in his possession with a licence from the Kurdish Assayish security, they considered him an opponent and immediately cut his head off in front of dozens of Tel Brak’s residents.”

Hussein’s family member pointed out that the victim’s body was found at the eastern outskirts of his al-Wardiya village.

“IS terrorists didn’t even allow us to bury him in the village’s cemetery, so we buried his dead body in the forest outside the village,” the family member said in a phone call with ARA News. “They (members of IS) are beheading people mercilessly. People are afraid to leave their houses.”

Abdul Aziz Hussein was born in the village of al-Wardiya in Hasakah province. He is married and father of a son, most of his relatives fled to the city of Qamishli (Qamishlo) after the IS seized control of Tel Birak town and its surrounding villages.

Noteworthy, IS-held areas in Syria encounter such practices on a daily basis. Dozens of civilians were beheaded by IS extremists in the last few weeks.
