Beirut, Lebanon – On Monday, a leading Jihadist member in Gaza Strip of Palestine said that about 100 young Palestinians from Gaza are now fighting in the ranks of the Islamic State group (IS/ISIS) in Syria and Iraq.
Abu Anas al-Maqdisi, one of the leading cadres of the Salafist jihadist groups in the Gaza said that 100 young men from the Strip have recently joined the IS.
“More than one thousand other Palestinians are ready to join the Islamic State, but circumstances prevent their departure,” al-Maqdisi said in a statement.
“A number of young Palestinians, who are fighting in the ranks of the Islamic State, were killed there, according to their comrades.”
“The applicants (for joining ISIS) are subjected to comprehensive security research and coordination between the Salafist groups in Gaza, Iraq and Syria,” he said.
The Palestinian authorities didn’t issue any statement regarding their citizens who have joined the radical group.
Meanwhile, officials in the Palestinian Ministry of Interior Affairs reportedly denied the presence of any IS members in their country.
