Deir ez-Zor, Syria – On Friday, the Islamic State group (IS/ISIS) carried out a tank bomb attack in the vicinity of the military airport of Deir ez-Zor province, eastern Syria, without causing casualties.
Speaking to ARA News in Deir ez-Zor, civil rights activist Fayez Abdulaziz said that one of Islamic State’s militants called Abu Farouq al-Libi, was able to bomb a tank in the vicinity of the military airport –where battles continue between IS militants and the pro-regime military forces for the second week.
“IS radicals attempt to take control of the airport, which is considered the last major stronghold of the regime forces in the city,” Abdulaziz added.
The pro-regime warplanes launched Thursday evening several raids on residential buildings in the village of Hatla, east of Deir ez-Zor, wounding three civilians who were transferred to a hospital in the nearby city of Mayadeen, locals told ARA News.
In the meantime, at least three civilians from one family were injured Friday, due to a similar bombing by the pro-regime warplanes on residential buildings in the town of Khareeta in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
