Beirut, Lebanon – On Sunday evening, the Shiite Lebanese group of Hezbollah announced that six of its members, including commanders, were killed in an Israeli air raid in southwestern Syria.

Lebanese media reported that six Hezbollah members –including the son of the military officer in the Party, Imad Mughniyeh, who was assassinated in Syria in 2008– were killed in the attack.

The senior military commander, Mohammed Issa, who was responsible for the Syrian and Iraqi files, was also killed in the same raid in the Syrian Golan Heights.

Hezbollah confirmed the death of a number of its members in an Israeli helicopter raid on al-Amal Farm in the Syrian side of the Golan Heights in southwestern Lebanon.

Speaking to ARA News in Quneitra, activist Mahmoud Hamed said that members of the Lebanese group of Hezbollah were killed in the area controlled by Syrian armed opposition fighters, stressing that the air raid targeted a village on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights.
