Hasakah, Syria – The General Command of the Assayish forces (the security arm of the Democratic Union Party “PYD”) issued on Wednesday a circular to all checkpoints to prevent the entry or movement of trucks towards cities and towns of Hasakah province, in northeastern Syria.
The leadership of the Assayish did not explain the reasons for the issuance of this order, which allocated special hours of banning trucks from entry –6:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M.
Speaking to ARA News in Hasakah, Kurdish activist Khorshid Khalil said that this comes in anticipation of any terrorist attacks that may target civilians who are deployed heavily in the cities of Hasakah.
“Also, the municipal elections to be conducted by the PYD-linked Auto-Administration is also approaching, which has raised concerns of possible attacks against election centers in the province,” Khalil added.
The Assayish leadership and General Administration of Traffic in the “al-Jazeera Canton” (Hasakah province) issued a statement on February 2, 2015, setting regulations to closely control the movement of trucks and tankers between the cities and towns of Hasakah.
