Damascus, Syria – Syrian Foreign Minister, Walid al-Muallem, said Wednesday that Damascus seeks more coordination with Baghdad in the fight against militants of the Islamic State (IS/ISIS).
Muallem’s statement came during a joint press conference with his Armenian counterpart, Eduard Nalbandian, in Damascus on Wednesday.
The Syrian FM stressed that Syria and Iraq are facing the same enemy, in reference to the IS militants, adding that both countries should cooperate.
“However, the coordination has not reached the threat level we are facing,” Muallem said.
He also thanked Russia and Iran for their strong support to the Assad regime.
