Aleppo, Syria – Rebels of the al-Fatih Army took control of the strategic hill of al-Mastumah between the cities of Idlib and Ariha in northern Syria (6 km from Idlib’s downtown) and the military camp of al-Mastumah of after expelling regime’s forces, local activists reported on Sunday.

Speaking to ARA News on the phone, Hashim al-Abdullah from Idlib, confirmed the control of al-Fatih al-Fatih over al-Mastumah hill which overlooks the largest military camp in Idlib.

They also took over the camp after conducting a car bomb attack, according to the source.

This was followed by fierce clashes between al-Fatih Army’s rebels and the pro-regime forces trapped in the camp.

A fighter from the brigade of Sultan Murad (part of al-Fatih Army) told ARA News that the ongoing clashes resulted in the destruction of several tanks of the pro-Assad forces.

In another development, media activists from the industrial zone in Sheikh Najjar of Aleppo told ARA News that on Sunday afternoon, militants of the Islamic State (IS/ISIS) launched an offensive on the headquarters of the pro-Assad forces within the industrial city in Aleppo and al-Muqbala village adjacent to the city.

ARA News could not verify the number of casualties.

The Syrian regime forces had gained control of the industrial city of Aleppo almost a year ago, after the Free Syrian Army’s (FSA) withdrawal. Rebels of the FSA were earlier in control of the areas located between the industrial city and the village of Shamer. The road of the industrial city is considered the only supply-line for the pro-regime forces in Aleppo’s central prison, and the villages of Sefat, Handarat and Bashkoy in the northern countryside of Aleppo.
