Qamishli, Syria – Mustafa Osso, vice president of the Syrian National Coalition (SNC), the main Syrian-opposition bloc, said in an exclusive interview with ARA News: “The SNC doesn’t hold any hostile attitude towards Kurdish fighters of the People’s Protection Units (YPG), and the SNC does not oppose the Kurdish advance in northern Syria.”

He pointed out that statements that have be released occasionally against the Democratic Union Party (PYD) and criticized the YPG “have not been discussed in the SNC’s General Assembly.”

SNC Haven’t Discussed Defeat of ISIS in Tel Abyad

On the SNC’s position towards the Islamic State’s (IS/ISIS) defeat before Syrian Kurds in Tel Abyad in collaboration with some of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) factions in Raqqa province, northeastern Syria, Osso told ARA News:

“Until now, this has not been debated in the coalition’s bodies, but I think that IS defeat in any part of Syria is in the interest of the Syrian revolution and its objectives.”

“We must support all those who fight this terrorist group,” he said.

Fight Against Terrorism

The vice president of the SNC pointed out that there has been no hostile attitude by the General Assembly towards the YPG forces.

“The General Assemby of the SNC is responsible for the resolutions and legitimacy in the coalition (SNC). So the statements released against PYD or YPG have not been discussed,” he said.

“The coalition is fighting terrorism in all its forms, and supports those who work to achieve the objectives of the Syrian revolution.”

Kurds and SNC

In response to a question by ARA News about the coordination between the SNC and the YPG forces, which are in control of Syrian areas where Kurds constitute majority, especially after controlling Tel Abyad as well as large areas of the Syrian territory, Osso said: “The SNC works to build bridges of cooperation and coordination with all parties that work for the Syrian revolution and achieve its goals of freedom, democracy, justice and overthrowing the regime.”

“We at the SNC work according to the revolution’s objectives and if any party’s goals meet with ours, then for sure we will build strong relations with it,” he argued.

Mustafa Osso, vice president of the SNC, concluded saying: “The SNC aspires for strong relations with all spectra of the Syrian opposition to guarantee civil peace in Syria. We are all responsible for the security of the Syrian people and the accomplishment of their aspirations in equality between the various components according to international conventions.”
