Istanbul, Turkey – The Iraqi Ministry of Human Rights said in a statement on Thursday that the Islamic State group (IS/ISIS) introduced more than 100 Syrian women for sale in the market of Fallujah city in Anbar province.

The statement said that the radical group has turned Fallujah market into an exhibition for sex slaves and captives, who are being offered for sale at down every day.

The captive women are given prices ranging between $ 500 and $ 2,000 each, local sources in Fallujah reported.

This market is crowded with pedestrians and IS militants, who are racing to buy captive women, under the pretext of “Jihad Marriage” which is allowed by IS senior and Sharia members, according to the Iraqi Ministry.

Humanitarian organizations have documented thousands of cases of kidnapping, captivity and rape committed by the radical group against Syrian and Iraqi women, warning of disastrous impacts on local communities in the IS-held areas.

Speaking to ARA News, human rights activist Berivan Ali said: “Barbarians of Daesh (IS) have brought back the slave trade that has been eliminated since centuries from the region.”

“The figures of kidnapped, raped and captivated women at the hands of Daesh terrorists reflect the degree of brutality and savagery of this group,” she said.

“The jihadist group has been attacking Christians, Yezidi, Shaback, and Kurdish families, killing the men and using or selling the women and children as sex slaves,” Ali told ARA News.

Activists reported that IS militants are following a swap policy between captives from different places. Syrian women are being offered at the slave trade markets in Iraq, and vise versa. This policy is resorted to the fact that most of IS-held areas in Iraq and Syria are populated with a tribal majority who are mostly connected through familial relations.
