DAMASCUS – Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said on Friday he will not join negotiations with opposition factions, state media reported.
Assad stressed that the majority of the Syrian people supports him, adding that he will not negotiate with “terrorists” on the future of the country.
His statement comes after calls by regional and international powers for negotiations between the Syrian regime and the opposition forces –expected to be held in January.
